How MMO profit calculators work

The shared assumptions behind Glacial Gaming desks — so you can trust (or challenge) a margin before you spend.

1. Live prices beat static spreadsheets

Albion Online quotes come from the Albion Online Data Project. OSRS uses Wiki Real-time Prices; GW2 and EVE use official APIs when available. Every desk labels Demo vs Live so you never mistake a fallback series for a fillable order.

2. Tax and fees are first-class

“Bid vs ask” is not profit. Market tax, listing fees, sales tax, and premium assumptions change the rank order of flips and crafts. Set your tax profile in Settings (Albion) or use each game’s honest defaults (OSRS 2% GE tax with 5m cap, GW2 listing + sales tax, etc.).

3. Return rates and craft bonuses

Albion refining/crafting refund materials via resource return rate (RRR). Specialty cities and focus raise effective RRR — which is why the refining calculator and crafting calculator ask for city and focus, not just recipe math.

4. Freshness and fair-value (UKF)

Stale city samples can invent fake edges. Desks surface age, and UKF fair-price signals (tier-capped by plan) help flag outliers against recent history — helpful context, not a guarantee a buy order fills.

5. Free tools vs scanners

Free tiers keep the interactive calculators. Scout/Pro unlock ranked scanners (flips, craft scans, Best Now) that evaluate many items at once. See plans for the honest split.
